Welcome Amigos offers a unique
summer time experience. Our summer camp is designed for children to
enjoy learning Spanish within a series of amazing themes. Our focus is
on cognitive, social, and emotional growth. In a small class size,
teachers have the opportunity to listen, interact, and encourage each
student to contribute his/her own ideas while bringing enthusiasm and
class participation.
We accept children ages 2 ½ - 12 years old. Groups are grouped according to their age:
Summer Camp Goals
* Involve children in decision-making by letting them make their own criteria, without real right or wrong answers.
* Support and nurture critical thinking skills in young children.
* Provide children with
strategies that help them develop strong and positive academic and
lifelong problem-solving and social skills.
* Encourage the children to appreciate the Spanish language, its culture and become confident and eager Spanish speakers.

Half Day Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Morning Extended Hours: 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.
Full Day Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m Afternoon Extended Hours: 3:00 - 5:30 p.m

San Mateo - Alameda de las Pulgas - Ages 2 ½ - 12 yrs. old
Burlingame Location - Ages 3½ - 12 yrs. old

On the first day of
camp, children will receive a t-shirt. We also provide children with a
well-balanced nutritious morning snack
  

Agua y Ciencia – Water & Science
Session 1: June 18th – 22nd & Session 2: June 25th – 29th
Session 1: ¡El verano llego!
(Summer is here!) The heat of summer is the perfect time to play and
discover surprising facts about water. From soggy to sodden, this class
will wet campers’ interest in science while exploring surprising
aspects of the most essential uses and importance of water. Expect
students to come home a little bit damp and delighted. We will make
blowing bubbles, and explore the power of the sun, using it to purify
dirty water, float a big bag and even cook a snack in a solar oven.
Session 2: ¡Qué divertido es aprender con agua! (How fun it is to
learn with water!) We will discover the many different kind of sea
animals, learn the different levels of sea, and discover how different
sea animals protect themselves, learn about sea habitat, salt and
freshwater animals. We will also make fish puppets, 3D sea creatures, and play fun water games.



El Arte y El Espíritu Emprendedor - Performing Arts and Entrepreneurship
Session 7: July 30th – August 3rd & Session 8: August 6th – 10th
Session 7: ¡Usemos nuestra imaginación! . Let’s use your imagination and choose to
be a musician, a writer, an actor, or an artist. This camp is designed
for children of all ages to identify entrepreneurial skills that is just right for them.
One student may create a business selling/marketing “Practice
Partners”, develop a logo for their work or serve as giving guidance
and assistance to other students preparing for music lessons.
Session 8: El mundo del arte… (In
the world of art…). Continuing in the world of performing arts,
children will create a “jingle” for an art show to use in a TV or radio
advertising. We will allow time for children to plan their performance
and create their booth to sell the tickets. There will be a job
position for each member! ¿Qué quiseras ser tú? (What would like to be?).
 
Ciencia, Causa, y Efecto - Science, Cause, and Effect
Session 9: August 13th – 17th & Session 10: August 20th - 24th
Session 9: ¡Me gusta la ciencia!
(I like science!) Come and join this hands-on science fun week! It will
be filled with fun experiments, and engaging science
projects. Children will get to take the amazing projects they will
build home. This session, we will explore a variety of topics that
cover broad science areas like physics and chemistry. For example,
students will explore how sound and light travel, the relativity of
touch, the relation between smell and taste, and how the brain brings
all the information together to inform us about the world we’re in.
Session 10: Moving on with our fun Ciencia, Causa, y Efecto
camp, we will explore biology, ecology, and archeology. Children will
try to find the hottest and coolest spots outside using both their
senses and a thermometer. They will discuss why it’s cooler on the
grass than on the pavement, in the shade than in the sun, and a few
inches underground than above. We’ll use sand to explore erosion and
the processes that break down and recreate rock. We’ll create fossils,
and then dig them up
Ciencia y Comida - Food and Science
Session 11: August 27th – 29th (3 days only)
In our Ciencia y Comida Camp
we will have an adventure summer with food science activities and
games. We will create our own bit of learning this summer. Some of our
experiments include, how to make butter by shaking cream in a jar. We
will make ice cream with our hands, brew tea at different temperatures,
and make sugar crystals. We will have a three days food science party
at learn tricks to fool our senses and our friends. ¡Integrate! (Come join us!)
